Bradford on Avon awarded Plastic Free Community status

Bradford on Avon has been awarded Plastic Free Community status by the Marine Conservation Charity “Surfers against Sewage”.  The first town in Wiltshire to achieve this! John Pearce led the group with the support of BOA Town Council and Mayor Alex Kay. Seven businesses have been formally recognised for the changes they have made to their use of plastic: Brown’s Hardware, Christine’s Supermarket, The Cheese Shop, The Georgian Wine Lodge, Iford Manor, Swan Hotel and Woolley Grange Hotel. We are now encouraging other businesses, schools and organisations to use less plastic.  Eunice Parker has been working very successfully at Christchurch School with assemblies and class activities about plastic.        Maureen Wood, May 2019
