Because electricity and gas are so easily accessible and make our lives so much easier and more comfortable, we tend to take them for granted. How often do we ask ourselves the questions:
“Do I really need that light on?”
“Have I left anything on standby?”
“If I turn down the heating by a couple of degrees is the house still going to be warm enough?
“Could I really do that task without an electrical gadget?”
“Could I dry my washing outside?”
By getting into the habit of stopping and thinking for a few seconds we can save the amount of energy we use and save money in the longer term.
What else could you do?
- borrow an energy monitor from BoA Library to check your electricity consumption and find out where you are wasting energy.
- arrange for a thermal imaging session of your home by contacting us at:firstname.lastname@example.org. This will indicate where you are losing heat and help you to consider possible remedies. There is a small charge for this service.
- ask your energy supplier for advice.
