We are a very active community group whose main aim is to reduce carbon emissions in the Bradford on Avon Community Area

The group was founded in 2006 through a Wiltshire Wildlife Trust initiative.  We now have almost 600 names on our e-mail list and more than 700 signed up to our Carbon Neutral 2050 Declaration.  You can find out more about our activities since 2006 in the Town Library where there are folders of clippings about CFB's activities and climate change related articles; they're in the reference section near the main desk.

Our activities are very wide ranging, both fun and serious and we take every opportunity to raise awareness and take practical action. We are totally inclusive and there is plenty of opportunity for people of all ages, abilities and interests to get involved.

We belong to the Climate Coalition and Low Carbon Communities Network and are signed up to the 10:10 campaign.

We aim to influence policy and we regularly engage with local and national politicians.

Our Aims

Our aims are to carry out activities which benefit the community, to:

  • promote, support and develop low carbon and sustainable lifestyles;
  • raise awareness of climate change issues;
  • share experience of low carbon living more widely;
  • campaign at a local and national level for actions supporting low carbon living.

Action groups

Our action groups are the driving force of Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon.  We are a practical organisation that likes to get on and get things done with the minimum amount of meetings. If you'd be interested in joining one of the groups do get in touch:  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Community Interest Company

Achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 is a tough challenge and a number of large projects are likely to be necessary.

So, CFB Community Interest Company (CIC) was set up to provide the legal framework and business status to enable us to implement larger projects as and when the opportunity arises.

We have already delivered a wide range of energy efficiency and clean energy generation measures through the British Gas Green Streets project in 2010 and the DECC funded LEAF (Local Energy Assessment Fund) project in 2012. But, a great deal more needs to be done and we need as much support as possible to achieve our goal.

So, if you live in the BoA Community Area you can support our work by becoming a paid-up member of the Community Interest Company for a one off, lifetime payment of £5.  For more details and to apply click here.

If you are interested in finding out more about the formalities of the company our Articles of Association are available here and ......
